PRP For Hair Restoration

PRP-For-Hair-Restoration

The process for PRP therapy for hair restoration at our Twin Falls spa is fairly straightforward.

Before and after PRP

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy is a procedure that has been used since the 1980s to address issues with tendons, ligaments, and muscles. More recently, PRP therapy has been used to combat hair loss with some fairly significant results. While the scientific research for using this type of therapy for hair restoration is still in its infancy, it’s becoming a more common consideration when it comes to combating hair loss.

The process for PRP therapy for hair restoration at our Twin Falls spa is fairly straightforward. First, blood is drawn and put into a centrifuge. The centrifuge separates the blood into three layers:

  • Red blood cells
  • Platelet-rich plasma
  • Platelet-poor plasma

The platelet-rich plasma is then drawn into a syringe and injected directly into areas of the scalp where increased hair growth is desired. These platelet cells promote healing and tissue regeneration, and in theory, they can stimulate the inactive hair follicles into an active growth phase.

The draw of this treatment is undeniable – instead of pharmaceuticals, PRP therapy relies on a patient’s own plasma to jumpstart hair regrowth. At Fresh Aesthetics, we recognize our platelet-rich plasma therapy in Twin Falls as a natural medical procedure.

As with any treatment, there are some risks, but because PRP therapy is using your own blood, you’re avoiding any risk of communicable diseases. Any procedure that involves injections always carries the risk of side effects such as:

  1. Infection
  2. Scar tissue
  3. Injury to blood vessels or nerves

PRP therapy for hair restoration is a 1-2 month procedure, with ongoing maintenance every 6 months. There are many factors that play into the cost, and many insurance plans consider these treatments as “cosmetic.” Be sure to discuss this with your physician prior to starting the treatments.

If you are struggling with hair loss, it’s important to review all options available. Our Twin Falls platelet-rich plasma therapy is a new and exciting option for those looking for a natural procedure with promising results.
